2019 Jeep Compass vs 2019 Toyota RAV4 near Detroit, MI

There are a large number of SUV options out in the market today, and sometimes that number can seem extremely intimidating when looking for your next purchase. We're here to cut down on all of the noise and discuss two of the top SUVs. By doing so, we hope to alleviate some stress, and make you better aware of just what's out there. The first option is the 2019 Jeep Compass, which features an off-road oriented trim level, roomy seating for all passengers, high-quality materials inside, and a technology interface that is easy-to-use. The other option, the 2019 Toyota RAV4, had to be completely redesigned this model year. It features a quiet interior, easy-to-use controls, and a great amount of passenger/cargo space. Which one is better? Keep reading down below to find out which SUV comes out on top.

2019 Jeep Compass Power & Handling

One powerful engine is in charge of getting the Compass. That engine is a 2.4-liter inline-4, which can not only get you an impressive 180 horsepower, it can also output up to 175 pound-feet of torque. But that isn't all that the 2019 Compass has to offer. This engine can be found with three different trim levels, including a six-speed manual or automatic and a nine-speed automatic. You can also choose between either two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, depending on what you'll be using the Compass for. When you do equip four-wheel drive, you'll be getting up to 2,000 pounds of towing. This is a machine that can perform well no matter the environment or weather condition.

2019 Toyota RAV4 Power & Handling

Along with the Compass, only one engine comes with the 2019 RAV4. This engine is a 2.5-liter inline-4, which can pump out up to 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Only one transmission is available, an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is also standard, however, all-wheel drive is available if you need extra traction. This just simply means that while the RAV4 works just fine on the road, nothing about all-wheel drive means that it is ready to hit the trails anytime soon. So, if you are looking to spend a weekend out in the forest, you might want to skip the RAV4, and jump straight back to the Compass.

2019 Jeep Compass Features & Design

Jeep holds nothing back when it comes to the four available trim levels that can be found with the Compass. The base trim, called Sport, includes many standard equipment features like a 6-speaker sound system, air conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, a Uconnect system that works with a seven-inch touchscreen display, 16-inch wheels, and even a USB port. Another trim you should consider is Latitude, which builds on what the Sport trim offers, and includes keyless ignition and entry, upgraded cloth and simulated leather seat upholstery, larger wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and additional packages that you can choose from. The most luxurious trim available is Limited. This trim includes automatic dual-zone climate control, an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen, a power-adjustable driver's seat, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats.

2019 Toyota RAV4 Features & Design

Toyota, on the other hand, offers five trim levels for their SUV. The base trim, called LE, offers a rearview camera, Bluetooth, LED headlights, no Android Auto, rear privacy glass, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, a six-speaker sound system, low-profile roof rails, a 7-inch touchscreen, a 60/40-split folding and reclining 2nd-row seat, and one USB port. Another trim to consider is XLE, which offers blind-spot monitoring, heated mirrors, four additional USB ports, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear cross-traffic alert, push-button start, and 17-inch alloy wheels. A higher option is XLE Premium, which adds simulated leather upholstery, a raised suspension, soft-touch dashboard materials, a power liftgate, a power-adjustable driver's seat, 19-inch wheels, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
