What engines power the 2023 Hornet?

In our first deep dive with the Dodge Hornet, we really want to introduce you to the two different engines that you will be able to choose from. The base configuration, coming with the GT trim, is a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Here you can get as much as 295 pound-feet of torque and 265 horsepower. This engine, along with the other optional one, both work with all-wheel drive. The other engine in question is a 1.3-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder that works with an electric motor that is mounted on the rear axle. Here you can get as much as 383 pound-feet of torque and 285 horsepower. This doesn't even include the 30 miles of all-electric range that comes from the 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery. At every turn, the Dodge Hornet will be able to provide you with that extra bump in power that you want out of your Dodge vehicle. We want to mention the six-speed automatic transmission that will also be included.

What are the Hornet R/T's drive modes?

When you choose to get behind the wheel of a Dodge Hornet R/T, you are getting a PHEV configuration that will completely transform every single one of your drives. This is the kind of opportunity that allows for true customization, and puts the ability to pick and choose your driving needs. The first of the three modes is Hybrid Mode. Here you will be able to get the maximum combined efficiency of the conventional engine and the e-Motor. This also minimizes fuel consumption by setting electric as the priority. Electric Mode is also available, which focuses on all-electric driving until the battery is completely depleted. In that case, it will flip back into a different drive mode. The final driving Mode is E-Save Mode. This prioritizes the conventional engine and preserves the battery charge. There's even a passive option to help maintain that battery's charge throughout your drive, and also an active option to help recharge that battery should it need it.

What performance features could I find with the Dodge Hornet?

Our final look at the Dodge Hornet comes with the kind of performance features that you will be able to gain. Whenever it comes to a Dodge vehicle, it should be no surprise that this is a model that cares about power. When you find things like a front and rear fully independent suspension, an electronic limited-slip differential, or enhanced body stiffness, you shouldn't be surprised that the Hornet is here to impress. Other performance-oriented features include Koni frequency selective damping shocks, Brembo four-piston fixed calipers, an Intelligent Braking System, and even a dual-stage-valve suspension.
