Jeep has made its way into the electric vehicle game with the release of its amazing Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee 4xe. While there is a lot to love about these vehicles, they still need to be appropriately charged so that they will function with ease. The good news is there are two ways to charge your EV vehicle: you can either charge it when you are out on the road at one of the many charging stations around Dearborn. If you charge your vehicle at home, you can use one of the chargers we will discuss below. We will also go over how to charge your vehicle while you are on the road and some etiquette for doing so. Plug In Charger for Jeep
Two at-home chargers are available for your Jeep 4xe, the Jeep Brand Plug-In Charger, and the Hardwired Charger. These chargers will allow you to charge your Jeep 4xe in two hours or less as the HSC-40 puts out 32 Amps and has a 7.7 kW maximum of power, perfect your Jeep 4xe. In addition, your Hardwire or Jeep Brand Plug-In Charger also has wi-fi connectivity, allowing drivers to monitor and control their charging session no matter where they are. This wi-fi system also has a spectacular mobile app that will save you time and money. These chargers are also very easy to use as they are lightweight and small in size, making them great for when you are on the road. Drivers will also be treated to Smart Grid Optimization, which will reduce energy costs by charging at low rate times, and there are programs you can participate in that will lower your costs further. Best of all, these chargers come with a quick-release mount, so they are portable and come in handy when you need them.
Charging on the Road
If you cannot charge your Jeep EV at home, you can visit one of the many charging stations around the area. While these charging stations continue to pop up around Dearborn, you should still plan out your travel routes and find conveniently located stations. Public charging is relatively simple as all you need to do is find a station, plug in your vehicle, and wait until it has enough battery to get you to your destination. Keep in mind that charging speeds will vary widely at public charging stations, and different EVs will use different types of connectors. There are currently three charging speeds available, level 1, level 2, and DC fast charging, Most drivers will use level 2 at home, and they are the most convenient to find when you are out on a road trip. DC fast chargers are also great as they can charge your vehicle in 45 minutes or less. Be sure that you don't linger at the charging stations when you are done, as others may want to use the charger. You should also ensure that you follow other etiquette guidelines, such as never stretching out the pump and always monitor your charging.
How PHEVs work
Your plug-in hybrid Jeep EV uses battery power to generate the electric motor and combines it with gasoline to make the vehicle move. This entire setup will power the internal combustion engine, which gives your Jeep EV its horsepower and torque. As we stated, your plug-in Jeep can be charged in several ways, including an at-home charger or a charging station out on the road. You can also charge your Wrangler or Grand Cherokee 4xe through regenerative braking. When your battery runs out of charge, your Wrangler or Grand Cherokee 4xe will automatically switch over to gasoline, so you will never have to worry about being stranded on the side of the road when your battery depletes.

If you are out on the road and need a place to charge your vehicle, Dearborn has several areas to choose from that will allow you to charge your vehicle and get back on the road in no time. You will find a charging station on Monroe street, which is open 24 hours to the public. There is also an EVgo charging station which you can find near Midway Sport and Entertainment. The last one we will mention is the charging station on Schaefer Road, which you can find near Lavagood park.
